Because words matter more than we think, I'd urge journalists and writers covering the mass murders ongoing in Zamfara to resist using the word 'bandits'. The perpetrators are mass murderers, cold blooded murderers, not mere bandits. Don't romanticise murder.
Whenever I write a literary piece (fictional), I don't do an outline. I go where the story takes me. I figured that if I knew the end of the story, then there would be no need to write it. Stories are lives in themselves. The ending surprises me just as it surprises the reader.
