Start with What You Know

I’ve had several conversations with business owners who have these tall and beautiful dreams of what they want their brands to look, sound and feel like among peers.

Many times, they are looking in the distance at this wonderful picture and do not know how to connect the present with that desired future. They don’t know how or where to begin to create what they have imagined for themselves and their businesses.

Allow me to propose a very simple and efficient approach to handling this…

Start with What You Know

Take a moment and appraise your present resources, skills and facilities. What do you have currently? What can you do with what you have? What are your areas of strength? What do you have working for you? What are your areas of knowledge and expertise?

That is where to begin from – a place of advantage. Once your thoughts and desires begin to shape in some form, it can easily evolve into a more complex, intricate design.

Nobody ever built a skyscraper from the top

Work from the ground up. You will never have all the answers from the beginning. Everyone starts with an idea. A simple idea can become a huge money-spinning empire. Begin with an idea what you want your business to look like. It doesn’t have to cover everything you want. You will eventually make many adjustments before it is fully developed. This way, you allow yourself to grow.

So, start with what you know. Like Moses, use what is in your hand. It isn’t nothing. It is powerful enough to get you to the next stage of bringing your dreams to reality.
